Giron orders all four Spanish corps to concentrate and prepare to attack Baylen

Suchet is determined to hold Baylen and then take Linares

He orders 8^th, 15^th and 16^th corps to concentrate there

7^th corps is ordered to rally, regroup and prepare to march to Linares

27 July 1813 – Linares Campaign - Day 10

1^st Spanish corps occupy El Hoyo and secure French depot with one days supplies

3^rd, 4^th and 5^th Spanish corps all resupply and regroup

7^th French corps rout to Abenojar

16^th Italian corps secure area around Probete

8^th French and 15^th Vistula corps resupply and regroup

26 July 1813 – Linares Campaign - Day 9

26 French brigade attack 4 guerrilla in Abenojar

Guerrilla defeated and rout, French occupy town

16^th Italian corps sent north to clear out guerrilla bands

1^st Spanish corps attack 7^th French corps at El Hoyo

The French have lost one brigade and detached a second

They are outnumbered in infantry two to one

The Spanish make a determined attack and lose 2000 casualties

The French are routed and lose 3400 casualties
