22 May 1813 - Central Germany


Wittgenstein reorganises and resupplies his army at Gotha

1 corps halt, rally and resupply                                              
2 corps hold and resupply                                            
3 corps hold and resupply                                                     
4 corps hold and resupply 

The French army supply situation is desperate
2 corps is out of supply and lose 400 men to attrition
The other 3 corps are down to one days supplies
Fortunately there are now some supplies at Barchfeld, Rosdorf and Meiningen
Davout orders his army to resupply and reorganise

6 corps hold, resupply and reorganise                                   
14 corps hold, resupply and reorganise

21 May 1813 - Central Germany


Wittgenstein must hold Gotha at all costs
He orders his army to move south and concentrate at Gotha
17 brigade is ordered to hold Mulhausen as long as possible

1 corps retreat to L02 and attempt to rally
2 corps move to K04
3 corps move to Dolstadt
4 corps move to K03

Davout has a serious supply problem
His corps are running short of supplies
There are sufficient supplies available, but they are out of range of the corps
He must order a halt until he can reorganise his depots.
To obstruct the Russian redeployment he orders 6th corps to attack Mulhausen

2 corps move to I04                                                      
5 corps move to I05                                                                
6 corps attack Mulhausen                                                    
14 corps hold and resupply

6th corps attack Mulhausen, which is a fortified town
It is held by a single infantry brigade
Garrison suffer 400 casualties and retreat towards Dolstadt.

20 May 1813 - Central Germany



Wittgenstein is hoping for one more day to regroup, rally and resupply his army
1 corps hold and resupply                                 
2 corps hold and resupply                                            
3 corps retreat to Mulhausen                                                 
4 corps hold, rally, resupply and reorganise

Davout is determined to attack before Wittgenstein can complete his reorganisation
Before he can do so he must redeploy his army and reorganise his supply depots
However 14th corps is close to Gotha and he orders them to attack            
2 corps move to I05                                             
5 corps move to I06                                                      
6 corps  to Rosdorf                                                     
14 corps attack Gotha       

The Russians suffer a major defeat at Gotha
Constantine has lost two of his four infantry brigades, plus his cavalry
His gunners have abandoned their guns
He orders his corps to break contact, retreat and abandon Gotha

The French have lost 800 casualties
The Russians have lost 3000 casualties
