24 September – North Germany – Day 3


Despite holding Kuhfelde the Prussian army is in great danger
2nd corps has lost three brigades in rout and must retreat to reorganise
3rd corps is isolated at Kleinau

He orders a new concentration at Salzwedel
14 brigade is ordered to establish a new depot at Schenga
2nd and reserve corps will retreat to Salzwedel
16 brigade will escort depot from Kleinau to Kladen
3rd corps will hold their ground to cover the retreat

Napoleon is not happy with the progress of the campaign so far
3rd corps have taken Dahre, but allowed the Prussians to withdraw
1st corps and the reserve have failed to take Kuhfelde

He is prepared to renew his attack on Kuhfelde
However at daybreak he finds that the Prussians have abandoned the town
He orders 1st corps to occupy the town and the reserve to rest
3rd corps to rally, regroup and resupply 
13th corps are ordered to attack Kleinau

The battle of Kleinau is hard fought, but finally won by the Poles.
The Polish lancers suffer 30% casualties and rout
The Prussians suffer more casualties, but they are spread between more brigades
The Prussians hold long enough to remove the supplies from the town
