Both armies are desperately short of supplies

Worse still available supplies are in the wrong place

Both armies have to halt to reorganise

If a corps runs out of supplies it will suffer attrition casualties

2^nd Prussian corps retreat into Salzwedel

Prussian reserve corps move behind the walled city

1^st and 3^rd corps resupply and regroup

Blucher redistributes supplies from Salzwedel to Schenga and Kladen

All four French corps halt, resupply and reorganise

Napoleon orders supplies from Weyhausen to Kuhfelde
