the north Schwartzenberg orders 2nd and 3rd Austrian
corps to attack Holzkirchen
9th
and 10th Bavarian corps have orders to hold the town
In
the south 1st and 4th Austrian corps regroup and resupply
east of the river Isar
11th
and 12th Bavarian corps do the same west of the river
Schwartzenberg
takes personal command of the attack on Holzkirchen.

concentrates on the two Bavarian corps
And
avoids any attempt to attack the walled town
The
battle opens with an artillery exchange
This
is followed by a cavalry melee
The
Bavarians lose both melee and both cavalry brigades rout
Without
cavalry support the Bavarians are forced to retreat
They
are covered by infantry in square and the garrison of Holzkirchen
