The campaign opens with a surprise attack on Vienenburg

In the north 3^rd Prussian army attack 2^nd French army at Vienenburg

In the centre both armies resupply

In the south both armies resupply

 

The battle of Vienenburg

Prussians won the extensive cavalry fighting

This forced French gunners to withdraw into town

The battle was decided by extended infantry melee on the hills either side of the town

The Prussian cavalry forced the French infantry to form square

They were then easily crushed by the massed Prussian infantry columns
