28 August 1813 – Central Germany – Day 3

Wittgenstein orders his army to hold and resupply

4^th corps rally routed brigades and receive replacement guns

2^nd French corps cross the river Saale north of Kulmbach

This puts the main Russian depot at risk

It also cuts the main Russian supply route

27 August 1813 – Central Germany – Day 2

Wittgenstein redeploys his army in response to defeat of 4^th corps

4^th corps retreat north of Waldershof

2^nd and 3^rd corps move south to hold Bayreuth to Waldershof

1^st corps move south to hold Kulmbach to Bayreuth

6^th and 14^th French corps deploy north of Eschenbach

Move supplies east to support support 6^th and 14^th corps

26 August 1813 – Central Germany – Day 1

Wittgenstein has deployed his army to hold the right bank of the river Saale.

His main defensive position is between Kulmbach and Bayreuth

4^th corps is further south as a flank guard

They are to deter minor attempts to cross the river

His main concern is to protect Bayreuth

He must also protect his supply lines running north through Kulmbach

Davout has deployed his army along the left bank of the river Saale

Aware of the Russian concern for their northern flank, he opts to attack in the south

2^nd and 5^th corps are ordered to pin the Russian army between Kulmbach and Bayreuth.

6^th corps will attack across the river and pin 4^th Russian corps

14^th corps will cross further south and support 6^th corps.

The Russians up a determined defence until the arrival of the Westphalians.   They delayed their retreat and lost heavily in the last two game moves

The Russians lost 2200 casualties and three brigades in rout

The French lost no casualties
