General Schwartzenberg has orders all four Austrian corps to attack

This has resulted in three battles over a large area

This is the western battle.

 2^nd Austrian corps has been ordered to attack Nuremberg

10^th Bavarian corps has orders to hold Nuremberg

Nuremberg is the main supply base of the Bavarian army

Its loss would have critical consequences for them

Austrians – 11200 infantry, 1000 cavalry, 30 guns

Bavarian – 12000 infantry, 1000 cavalry, 24 guns

2nd Austrian corps will arrive bottom centre at the start of move 1

Bavarian cavalry charge, but lose melee and withdraw shaken

Bavarian grenadier brigade is broken by artillery fire and rout

Nearby gunner, who start the battle with 20% casualties, join them

Rout spreads to remaining infantry who turn and run
