5 October 1813 – Battle of Rosenheim

Schwartzenberg was surprised by the Bavarian occupation of Rosenheim
He immediately ordered 1st and 3rd corps to concentrate at Traunstein
He now orders them to attack Rosenheim

Oudinot has 9th and 11th corps in and around Rosenheim
He is determined to hold the city and the bridge over the river Isar

Bavarian – 28000 infantry, 2000 cavalry, 60 guns
Russian – 28000 infantry, 2000 cavalry, 60 guns

All four corps are on the table at the start of the game
Rosenheim is the city on the centre left
The river Isar runs behind the city.
The river can only be crossed by a bridge
There is a bridge behind both 9th and 11th corps
Chips will be drawn to decide move sequence
Move 1 : 0800-0900
Bavarians make minor adjustments
Austrians advance towards city
1st corps is slower because they have to move off hill       
Move 2 : 0900-1000
Bavarian artillery unlimber and wait for Austrians to come within range
1st Austrian corps moves off hill
2nd Austrian corps form column of attack
Move 3 : 1000-1100
Bavarians complete readjustment
9th corps artillery open fire, but no casualties
Oudinot moves to take command of brigades between city and river

Austrians continue to advance
3rd corps artillery unlimber

Move 4 : 1100-1200
Oudinot now has command of brigades between city and river
9th corps command brigades in Rosenheim
11th corps command all brigades to the left of the city

Austrians continue to advance
1st corps artillery unlimber
3rd corps artillery open fire, but no casualties           

Move 5 : 1200-1300
Bavarian cavalry on both flanks retreat out of artillery range
Austrian artillery forced to limber up and move forward to remain in range

Move 6 : 1300-1400
Bavarian artillery open fire on Austrian gunners, no casualties
Austrian artillery unlimber
Cavalry and infantry remain out of range
Move 7 : 1400-1500
Austrian artillery open fire on Bavarian cavalry, no casualties
Time is running out for the Austrians
Cavalry move forward into charge range of enemy cavalry
Infantry move forward to attack.  
Move 8 : 1500-1600
11th Bavarian hussars (left) charge and rout 1st Austrian hussars
The Bavarians fail their morale and pursue, causing 30% casualties
1st Austrian corps is forced to halt and the infantry form square

3rd Austrian corps artillery fire (right) fire on Bavarian dragoons
Cavalry suffer 10% casualties and are shaken
Austrian infantry advance in column of attack
Bavarian artillery fire on leading brigade, but cause no casualties

Move 9 : 1600-1700
Bavarians
On the left artillery fire on grenadier square and cause 10% casualties
Disordered hussars flow around jager square but suffer no casualties
On the right shaken dragoons are charged and routed with 30% casualties

On the left Austrian grenadier square disordered by artillery casualties
They are unable to fire on enemy hussars who flow past them
To their left jager square fire on hussars, but no casualties
Gunners seen safety in square to avoid hussars when ralli
Infantry brigade beside farm retreat out of artillery range

Austrians
On the right hussars charge and rout shaken Bavarian dragoons
The cavalry fail to rally and charge nearby square
They lose 20% casualties and rout themselves
Infantry advance towards retreating gunners and remaining square
Austrian artillery are screened by the infantry advance.
Move 10 : 1700-1800
Bavarians
On the left artillery fire and hit grenadier square again
Hussar brigade return to rally with corps commander

On the right city garrison fire on nearest brigade and cause 10% casualties
Gunners retreat into the city with their guns
Remaining infantry brigade form line and lose firefight]
They receive 20% casualties and are shaken

Austrians
On the left grenadiers in square receive artillery fire
Test and pass morale with 20% casualties
All of 1st corps retreat out of artillery fire

On the right nearest brigade to town receive 10% musket casualties
Test and pass morale, but are disordered with 10% casualties
Being disordered they are unable to attack enemy infantry

Second brigade form line win firefight with enemy infantry
They lose 10% casualties and are disordered
Enemy also lose 10% casualties but are shaken

Reserve grenadier brigade advance towards city
Fire on garrison but no casualties
Artillery limber and move to support attack on city
Move 11 : 1800-1900
Bavarians
11th corps (left) are waiting for orders to pursue or support 9th corps

9th corps (right) are still holding the city
The artillery have retreated into the city
But their cavalry are in rout
Oudinot joins 3 infantry brigade to rally them
He does so, but they lose the fire fight and rout, taking him with them

Austrians
1st corps (left) continue to retreat out of artillery range
They have abandoned their guns, and their cavalry are in rout

3rd corps (right) win firefight
Artillery have now unlimbered at short range of the city
Grenadier brigade continue to skirmish the garrison, but no casualties
Jager brigade is ordered to move to support left flank
Move 12 : 1900-2000
Bavarians
Oudinot joins 11th corps (left) but too late to do anything decisive
9th corps (right) continue to hold the city

Austrians
1st corps (left) halt out of artillery range

3rd corps (right) continue to fire on garrison, but no casualties
The remainder of the corps is too disordered to support the attack
Move 12 : 1900-2000 – Right Flank
Bavarians
4 infantry brigade in rout on the right
Garrison continue to hold the city and are still full strength

Austrians
Jager brigade move to support left flank
Artillery and 1 grenadier brigade continue to fire on garrison, but no casualties
3rd brigade (in line) have 20% casualties and are too weak to attack the city
But they are blocking 2nd brigade (in column behind them) from firing on garrison

Conclusion
Oudinot still holds the city at nightfall
By doing so he has won the battle
 
The Bavarians have lost 1900 casualties and have two brigades in rout
The Austrians have lost 2600 casualties and also have two brigades in rout
