1 September 1813 – Battle of Bayreuth

General Wittgenstein has concentrated his 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th corps in a central position to hold the river Saale and also defend Bayreuth and Waldershot.

Marshal Davout has crossed the river south of Bayreuth and is now determined to move north and take the city, which is the objective of this campaign.  He has ordered 6^th and 14^th corps to attack from the south, and 5^th corps from the west.
