20 September – Southern Spain – Day 13

Giron ordered his army to retreat to Molina
All four corps have used their last supplies to do so
They will suffer attrition casualties until they have been able to resupply

Suchet ordered his army to halt, resupply and regroup
All four corps receive supplies and now have four days per corps
His routed brigades are rallied
Replacements for his battle casualties start to arrive

The French have won the campaign, but are too battered to pursue the Spanish

Giron launches a surprise attack by his whole army on Hellin
                        
Suchet has dispersed his army to support his supply bases
He has concentrated his supplies at Hellin, and is not prepared to abandon them
He orders his army to concentrate and hold the town

Three French and four Spanish corps took part in the battle of Hellin
Both sides started the battle with previous battle casualties
This was a very hard fought battle, and both

19 September – Battle of Hellin

In the centre 7th French corps lose left half of Hellin
But they continue to hold the right half of the town
3rd Spanish corps have taken the left half of the town
4th Spanish corps fail to take the right half of Hellin

On the right 15th Vistula corps have taken the woods
2nd Spanish corps has broken and is in rout

Conclusion
At night fall the French still hold half of Hellin
They also hold the woods on the right

The Spanish have taken half of Hellin
They also hold the woods on the left

Both 16th Vistula and 2nd Spanish corps are destroyed

The Spanish have lost much heavier casualties than the French
They have also lost half of their artillery and all of their cavalry
The remaining brigades all have casualties and are fragile
With just one days supplies left they face the destruction of their whole army

The French have lost 5900 casualties and 6 brigades in rout
The Spanish have lost 9700 casualties and 10 brigades in rout

At nightfall Giron orders the Spanish army to retreat south
