11 June 1813 - Southern Spain


1st and 2nd Spanish corps are deployed just north of the river Guadiana
They hold the main road from Madrid to Cuidad Real
Marshal Suched orders 7th and 8th French corps to attack
The French suffer an unexpected and serious defeat.
The Spanish artillery performed well and inflicted heavy casualties
The Spanish irregular cavalry routed a French dragoon brigade
French – 2200 casualties and cavalry brigade in rout
Spanish – 500 casualties and two infantry brigades in rout
