4 August 1813 – Battle of Kindling

The retreat of 9th and 11th Bavarian corps after the battle of Wendelstein has left 12th Baden corps isolated at Kindling.  

Schwartzenberg orders 1st Austrian corps to attack them before they can retreat

The Baden corps have detached one infantry brigade on garrison duty.

Austrians – 16000 infantry, 1000 cavalry, 30 guns
Baden – 12000 infantry, 1000 cavalry, 30 guns

12 Baden corps are deployed in and around Kindling
Artillery and cavalry are to the right of the town
One infantry brigade is in reserve behind the town
Each town section is occupied by an infantry brigade

1 Austrian corps will arrive on the table at the start of move one
0800-1200
Austrian cavalry have deployed on the right to cover the corps arrival
Half of the infantry are advancing over the right hand side of pass
The remainder is moving through the pass with the artillery

Baden infantry and cavalry have deployed to the right of the town
The reserve infantry brigade is moving to deploy left of the town
1200-1600
Austrian hussars charge and rout Baden light cavalry
Nearby gunners abandon guns and seek shelter in the town
Austrian artillery open fire on left hand section of town at short range
Cause heavy casualties to garrison who are shaken
Austrian infantry charge and rout garrison
Baden commander orders a general retreat

Conclusion
Storkhorn has lost his cavalry and one of his infantry brigades
He orders the remainder of his corps to break contact and retreat

The Baden have lost 2600 casualties
The Austrians have lost 800 casualties
