15 April 1813 – North Germany - Day 3

 

1st Prussian army retreat towards Wismar

2nd French army occupy Boltenhagen

 

2nd Prussian and 3rd French armies face each other at the border

Both are regrouping and resupplying

 

South of the river Elbe 3rd Prussian army attack Fletchingen

The town is held by 1st French army, including the Old Guard corps

At nightfall the French still hold the town, but both 1st and 3rd corps are in retreat

The Old Guard bear the brunt of the fighting, and suffer the heaviest casualties

A significant victory for the Prussians
