31 March 1813 - Southern Spain

Marshal Suchet accepts that having failed to take Talavera he has lost the campaign.   He orders his Army to break contact and retreat to Toledo to resupply and regroup.

Strategic Map

The Talavera campaign was the second phase in Southern Spain between the Fifth French and Spanish armies.   It lasted 13 days and there were three battles.   The Spanish won two and the third was a draw.
