13 April 1813 – North Germany

Napoleon moves south to Celle with 1st French corps.  His intention is to join with 13th French corps and attack Hildesheim

3rd French corps move to river Weser north of Celle.   Send their cavalry brigade to secure bridge in G09.   1st Prussian corps cavalry engage them, but lose skirmish and retire to Celle.

Blucher remains at Brunswick with 4th corps.   His Army is in contact with three of the four French corps, but he has no indication of the location of 1st French corps.

He suspects that the cavalry contact at Celle is an attempt to force him to commit his reserve.  However he is not prepared to do so until he is convinced where Napoleon will make his main attack.

He orders 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prussian corps to hold their current position
