26 April 1813 – North Germany

Despite his defeat at Helmstedt, Napoleon orders 1^st and 4^th corps to attack Eilseben.   His army is running short of supplies, and he dare not delay any longer.  He also orders 3^rd corps to advance and prepare to attack Bismark.   13^th corps has retreated to Wolfenbuttel, where it will be within supply range of Brunswick.   It will take at least two days before 13^th corps is operational again

Blucher orders 1^st and 3^rd corps to hold Eilseben, and 4^th corps to occupy Helmstedt

Napoleon is defeated at Eilseben.   The French lose 4500 casualties and the Prussians lose 3900.
