26 April 1813 – North Germany



Despite his defeat at Helmstedt, Napoleon orders 1st and 4th corps to attack Eilseben.   His army is running short of supplies, and he dare not delay any longer.  He also orders 3rd corps to advance and prepare to attack Bismark.   13th corps has retreated to Wolfenbuttel, where it will be within supply range of Brunswick.   It will take at least two days before 13th corps is operational again

Blucher orders 1st and 3rd corps to hold Eilseben, and 4th corps to occupy Helmstedt

Napoleon is defeated at Eilseben.   The French lose 4500 casualties and the Prussians lose 3900.
