11 May 1813 – Northern Spain – End of Tordesillas Campaign

Tactical Map

This campaign was a much needed victory for Wellington.   He won six of the seven battles, and the seventh was a draw.   Despite this Soult put up a determined defence right to the end.

Once more supplies played a major part in the campaign, and constant guerrilla attacks on the French depots and lines of supply assisted Wellington to achieve such a convincing victory.

The Oporto campaign was the fifth phase in Northern Spain between the Fourth French and the Anglo Portuguese armies.  It lasted 14 days and there were seven battles.  The British won six and the seventh was a draw.
